IIGF 2025 Session on ‘Privilege in AI Conversations: From Trust to Risk’
The Indian Governance and Policy Project (IGAP) organised a session at the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) 2025 titled “From Trust to Risk: The Case for Privilege in AI Conversations”. IGAP deeply appreciates the presence and the insightful contributions of all the panellists; their participation helped shape the day’s discussions.
The session was moderated by Dhruv Garg (Founding Partner, IGAP) and featured the following distinguished panellists:
· Anup Surendranath (Professor and Executive Director, The Square Circle Clinic, NALSAR)
· Kapil Chaudhary (Partner, Dentons Link Legal)
· Kirti Mahapatra (Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co)
Rather than asking a binary “Should AI get privilege?”, the session pointed to a more realistic path forward: layered safeguards, stronger transparency, and governance frameworks that protect user autonomy without distorting settled legal doctrine.
This conversation marks a starting point, not a conclusion. Indian Governance and Policy Project (IGAP) will continue to delve deeper into these questions, including the evolving relationship between AI, trust, and access to justice, as part of its broader work on AI governance and policy.
The event report is attached for those interested in a deeper dive into the discussion and key takeaways.
